Hormones and hair growth: what’s the connection?

Hair growth doesn’t depend only on genetics. Hormonal balance affects how hair follicles work and, over time, can change hair thickness, color, and overall growth patterns.
Hormonal changes may:
make hair thicker and darker;
speed up hair growth;
lead to stronger hair growth in areas where there used to be less.
Why does this matter for laser hair removal? Laser hair removal works best when hairs are in the active growth phase. If hormonal balance changes, hair growth patterns can change over time, and in some areas hair growth may become stronger again — which is why maintenance treatments may be needed.
